We met with librarians when developing this book and listened when they said that a book with chests and toys can be a challenge to shelve and lend for libraries.
But they wanted the book for their kids. They loved the short story format, that the book is inviting to read - with bold illustrations and small blocks of text, and that it's easy to read for kids who aren't keen to read for fun.
So we've created a version of Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island that is just the book. We've taken off the chests and toys so the book is easy to shelve and lend!
Kids love Treasure Kai's amazing treasure hunt adventure stories.
The book especially appeals to the reluctant reader due to the dominant and amazing illustrations, small blocks of copy, larger text and easy reading level.
We worked with literacy professionals to make sure the reading level would not put off the reluctant reader. It's late Grade 1/early Grade 2.
